Always a good time to Quit!

28 February 2020

Quit XIf you have tried to Quit Smoking before and failed, it is easy to become disheartened, however the research from Quit Victoria tells us that most people attempt to quit several times before they are successful.  That is because smoking is a complex addictive process.  Each time we give quitting a go, we will learn more about why we smoke, when we smoke, and what our smoking is linked to and triggered by.

All of this information builds to help you get a really good understanding of your smoking, and the more you understand it the more likely you are to be able to put strategies into place to combat each of your triggers.

Did you know that smoking is often paired with other activities, like drinking coffee, after a meal, or whilst talking on the phone?  By becoming aware of these pairings, we can produce strategies to help you combat the pairing - such as having a stress ball to play with while on the phone, or having a hair band around your wrist to flick when you get a craving, or ensuring you are using oral Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) (that is, gum, spray or lozanges) at least 15 minutes before the craving will hit.  This ensures that you have the greatest chance of getting over the craving without smoking (which only lasts 5 minutes), which will keep you on your quit smoking plan.

Come on in and discuss your Quit Smoking plan with our highly trained and motivated staff today!  We've helped others to successfully quit - we can help you too.  You are not alone, together we can get you to a better health outcome.
